In business, doing the right thing is often the hard thing to do
which is why it can be uncomfortable, but as leaders, we provide the moral compass for our own company, our clients, our associates, and the industry as a whole. Sometimes difficult decisions must be made for the good of the company and sometimes doing the right thing can make our life temporarily more difficult but we must push forward. Doing the right thing is the key to overall business success. A focus on personal gain can lead to short term success but doing the right thing usually ensures the ultimate long term emotional returns. When you prioritize ethical adherence and emotional returns with hard work, grit, and determination, the financial aspects fall into place all on their own.
By motivating our people through our own actions of developing a positive and encouraging environment, it plants the seeds of success in our workplace. Alternatively, failure to do the right thing has the opposite effect; it reduces drive, encourages a laissez faire individualistic attitude, and ultimately results in loss of talent and turnover. When we experience turnover, it is on us as business leaders to not overlook or rationalize the loss. We must always be looking for ways to learn and improve by taking responsibility and addressing any underlying issues. At Halo, by ensuring that our employees feel valued, our clients have confidence in our work and commitment to their success, and our integrity and reputation is respected across the industry, we can trust the foundation we have laid for future success.
